For this task I made a go animate presentation to show you the Uses and Gratification Theory. this theory has had many critics criticise it due to its inefficiency. It was created by media theorists Blumler and Katz. This task has helped me to understand what customers want and need to feed their want for escapism or just a general distraction, this can be satisfied by creating an insight into a stars life to create the illusion of escapism.

For this task I had to analyse a; Front cover, Contents page/s and a double page spread of a magazine I bought "Q". From this I learnt how the layout can have an influence to the customer and how to make it more appealing to them. For example, on the contents page (left side) there is one single picture that is carried on towards the next contents page this, being from a well established magazine, it is highly likely that this is a good structure due to Q using it. This information will help me in the future for my own music magazine design, this will also help my in my attempt at a practice magazine. I will measure the success of this structure by using my practice magazine as a pilot and ask others for their opinion.

For this task I will tell you what different types of House music there is. This will help me to familiarise myself with the types of house music that are targeted towards younger and older ages, this will also help to see the things, e.g. format or colour scheme, that makes that magazine apply to that specific market. In this post I will list just a few of the 100s of sub-genres within House music rather than all of them because there is too many to comment on, but each one I use I will explain briefly.
Here are some of the Sub-genres;
Acid House - Most of the noise of this genre comes from an electric bass synthesiser.
Baseline House - Similar to Dubstep and Grime. Most songs are around 135 to 142 BPM.
Glitch House - Distorted beats and a combination of sounds of an ambient, electro, techno and video game nature.
Tech House - House music with moments of techno beats.
Witch House - consists of very dark, ethereal and creepy feel to it with deep bass as well as industrial sounds.
Moombahton - Dutch house music fused with reggae, usually about 108-112 BPM
Here is just a few of the many sub genre of house music. The first 4 mentioned above are some of the more popular sub genres, whereas the last 2 mentioned are in the niche category. Like other mainstream genres, house is aimed at a worldwide audience and it can be useful to fuse genres together to create a new sub genre which will appeal to an even wider audience. For example, House music can be manipulated and mixed with Jazz and Soul to create Deep House. Deep House is listened to by mainly teenagers and young adults. Sub genres can be found almost everywhere; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube etc... And all of this advertisement only gets more and more attention every day, so videos go viral and spread across the globe.
